Type 2 Low Biomarker Stability and Exacerbations in Severe Uncontrolled Asthma

چکیده
We investigated the stability of T2 low status, based on levels biomarkers, and exacerbation rates in non-T2 asthma from clinical retrospective data severe uncontrolled patients. Knowledge biomarker profile is sparse uncharted. Secondary care patients with at least two blood eosinophil counts (BEC) fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) measured for determination type 2 inflammation status were evaluated a follow-up period 4 years. Patients stratified into four groups: low150 (n = 31; BEC < 150 cells/µL FeNO 25 ppb), 138; > and/or low300 66; 300 103; ppb). Exacerbation requiring hospital care, cumulative OCS ICS doses assessed during follow-up. Among asthma, 18% 31) identified as low150, 39% 66) low300. In these groups, was stable 55% 11) 72% 33) measures. different between 19.7 [95% CI: 4.3–45.6] vs. 8.4 [4.7–13.0] per 100 patient-years. are useful biomarkers identifying showing up to Repeated monitoring essential treating asthma.

Guidelines for severe uncontrolled asthma.
Since the publication, 9 years ago, of the latest SEPAR (Spanish Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery) Guidelines on Difficult-to-Control Asthma (DCA), much progress has been made in the understanding of asthmatic disease. These new data need to be reviewed, analyzed and incorporated into the guidelines according to their level of evidence and recommendation. Recently, consensus document...
متن کاملAsthma exacerbations. 2: aetiology.
The natural history of asthma involves relatively stable periods that are often punctuated by significant exacerbations of symptoms. There are many aetiologies that may lead to an increase in asthma severity including respiratory infection (bacterial/viral), allergens, irritants, and occupational exposures. Each trigger probably acts through different mechanisms, but a final common pathway of m...
متن کاملLaryngomalacia presenting as severe uncontrolled asthma
Congenital laryngomalacia is the most common cause of stridor in infants and usually resolves without therapy by 12-18 months of age. However, a recent study found that laryngomalacia may leave structural and functional traces with increased risk of later respiratory symptoms, suggesting that late-onset laryngomalacia may represent long-term consequences of milder or even undiagnosed forms. Unu...
متن کاملClassification of severe asthma exacerbations: a proposal.
The intensity of asthma exacerbations may vary from mild to severe. Many studies have demonstrated that the speed at which severe asthma exacerbation (SAE) develops varies among patients. In some asthmatics, the exacerbation comes on very quickly, whereas in others there is a progressive deterioration of clinical, functional and blood gas parameters. Sudden SAE are characterised by their explos...
متن کاملRecent asthma exacerbations predict future exacerbations in children with severe or difficult-to-treat asthma.
BACKGROUND Children with severe/difficult-to-treat asthma experience high morbidity including frequent severe exacerbations. More knowledge is required to identify predictors of these exacerbations to reduce their occurrence. OBJECTIVE To investigate the risk of future severe exacerbations (FSEs) in children with severe/difficult-to-treat asthma and recent severe exacerbations (RSEs). METHO...
